Flags related to Frikorps Danmark and Regiment 24 “Danmark”

Flags are of great social and psychological importance to military personnel and the signals they send to the outside world. They symbolize loyalty and a shared fighting spirit. They are used psychologically to instill national pride in soldiers and contribute to increased morale in the fight against the enemy—the danger that would deprive them of the flag. This also applied to the Danes who participated on the German side during the Second World War. Being allowed to carry the Danish flag as a battle standard also signaled societal and political acceptance and support.
