Collar tabs for the uniforms of Danish volunteers.

The collar of uniform jackets has historically been used to indicate rank, professional affiliation, and nationality. The German army developed a detailed system for these collar patches, but was forced to revise it several times in response to the military’s evolving weapon branches, divisions, and nationalities.

The topic of cloth badges includes a selection of the most typical versions worn, among others, by Danish volunteers. In general, it can be said that cloth badges were worn in many different makes and variants, and photographs also show that they were not always worn in accordance with German uniform regulations.

The items shown are partly from my own collection and partly provided by other collectors or archives, and are intended to illustrate historically used objects.

The undersigned does not present any symbols or imagery as an expression of political views regarding who used them or in what context.
