Stenalt camp
“Labour Service Day at Stenalt near Randers.”

LAT / 4: STENALT
Manor house near Ørsted, close to Randers, owned by estate owner and enthusiastic party member Erik Blach, who had bought the entire Stenalt farm in 1940, including the main building and smaller farms.
The camp was established in the forester’s residence (today Kristianslundvej No. 8), belonging to the estate, and was in operation from 10 July 1941 under the leadership of acting camp commander Feldm. Krogh-Hansen, who had built his career in LAT going all the way back to the first group that was trained under the RAD in Germany.
The red-brick building was renovated, and one or two wooden barracks for personnel were constructed east of the building, as well as a tool shed, and thus estate owner Blach could also get his private work tasks underway while LAT trained its personnel.
On the estate’s land there was a considerable amount of forest, and with relatively high timber prices and cheap labour, the estate owner chose to thin out the forests significantly and replant new ones.
At the site, LAT’s Day was held on 29, 30 and 31 May 1942; the event is also referred to as the LAT national rally.
In the same connection, the camps LAT/1+2+3 were also relocated to Stenalt as of 21 May 1942, as all personnel were required to attend the gathering.
The camp had to be closed on 30 June 1943, with final liquidation on 18 July. The new restructuring within DNSAP/LAT was putting pressure on the organization; declining participation and fewer financial resources had also played their part in the decision to shut it down.
E. Black retained the estate until 1957, when he sold it in its entirety.
The building still belongs to Stenalt Manor and is used for private rental, although the personnel barracks no longer exist.
